For the date dessert, cut leftover cake into cubes and place in dessert glasses. Dissolve the cornflour in about 100 ml almond milk.

Bring 400 ml of almond milk to the boil with a pinch of salt and the date syrup, adding cinnamon if you like.

When the milk boils, quickly stir in the corn mixture with a whisk and boil for about half a minute, whisking all the time.

Then empty the pudding over the cake crumbs and you are ready to serve.
