If you don’t want to give flowers in the classic sense on Valentine’s Day, you can also express your love with a lovingly prepared cupcake garnished with a chocolate rose.

For the Valentine’s Day cupcake, melt the chocolate together with the butter over a bain-marie.

Preheat the oven to 180°C. Sift the flour with the baking powder.Beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla sugar until doubled in volume. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients into the egg mixture.

Fold the liquid chocolate-butter mixture into the mixture until everything is evenly distributed in the batter.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a muffin tray on top. Line the troughs with muffin cups and divide the mixture evenly among the cups.

Bake the cupcakes in the oven for about 15-20 minutes. Let the cupcakes cool completely afterwards so that the topping does not melt.

For the topping, prepare the vanilla pudding according to package directions. Let the pudding cool and then add the butter and sugar. Beat the topping with a hand mixer until fluffy and add a dash of rum. Pour the vanilla topping into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle and pipe it onto the cooled cupcake, starting from the outside. Decorate with frosting beads and finish with a chocolate flower on top.

The Valentine’s Day cupcake will enchant your sweetheart, you’ll see!
