Instructions:

Cut each tofu cube into 4 slices. Mix the remaining ingredients and marinate the tofu in it for at least half an hour.

Pour oil one centimeter high in a frying pan and roast the tofu slices in small portions until brown and crispy.

By the way, I have found that tofu can be frozen very well, after freezing the tofu has a firmer and at the same time more porous consistency – both are not a fault, exceptional if you want to marinate it.

It is best served with steamed vegetables (bean sprouts, broccoli) or vegetables cooked in salted water and a spicy peanut sambal (sambal kacang).

In Indonesian cuisine, sambal is a spicy sauce that is always served at the table, and all diners can help themselves to it. Some sambals are always served (e.g. sambal ulek, simple puréed chiles), others only with certain dishes.

The following sambal goes well with both vegetables and meat. It goes very well with grilled sate. The taste is hot, sweet and sour at the same time.

Some people just eat it pure! Grind all ingredients in a herb grinder, hand mixer or food processor until a coarse paste with crunchy peanut pieces is formed. Add sweet/sour seasoning if desired.

Selamat makan! Note Petra: used serranos from the jar instead of Thai chiles. Sambal very good, spicy. In addition paprika vegetables.
