The pike is a predatory fish. It has lean and particularly aromatic meat – but unfortunately also many bones.

Gut and scale the pike, rub with lemon, pepper & salt. Cut the vegetables into small pieces and fry them in butter. Place the pike on an oil-greased baking tray and fill with the sautéed vegetables, then place in the heated oven and bake at 200 °C for about 20 minutes. As soon as the dorsal fin can be easily pulled out of the fish meat, the fish is cooked and can be served with the braised cucumbers.

Tip:

– The smaller pike (2-3 kg) are especially good for stuffing. The larger pike often have a little bit of dry meat, which is more suitable for farces.
