For the filled Christmas striezel, first prepare a yeast dough and let it rise.

Cover a baking tray with baking paper. Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Fill the Powidl into a piping bag.

Roll out the yeast dough into a large rectangle. Pipe a length of Powidl slightly below the upper edge and fold the end of the dough over it from above so that the Powidl is covered by the dough. Cut off just next to it to make a dough roll filled with powidl. Repeat this step three more times.

Place the ends of the four strands of dough on top of each other on one side and press down. Weave into a Striezel. The video for this recipe shows how this works best.

Place the Striezel on the baking sheet, brush with egg and sprinkle with flaked almonds. Bake the filled Christmas Striezel for about 30 minutes.
