For the Hawaiian muffins, preheat the oven to 200°C degrees and line a muffin tin for 12 with paper cups. Cut the pineapple pieces into small pieces.

Mix flour with baking powder and salt in a bowl. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg with oil and buttermilk and pepper the mixture. Fold in the flour mixture and finally fold in the pineapple chunks and diced ham.

Pour the batter into the ramekins and sprinkle with the cheese. Bake the Hawaiian muffins in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes at 200°C.
