A great cake recipe for any occasion:

(*) For a form of 25 * 25 cm finely grind almond kernels and pine nuts. Remove the stone from the plum, cut into small cubes. Cover the baking pan with parchment paper. Preheat the stove to 180 °C.

Cream butter and sugar with a mixer. Add the eggs and continue mixing until you have a pale mixture.

Grate the orange peel into the mixture. Squeeze the juice and set aside for the syrup. Sift in flour and baking powder. Add nuts, semolina and milk and stir well. Mix in the diced plums. Fill the dough mixture into the mold, spreading it smoothly. Bake in the middle of the oven for forty-five minutes. Cool the cake in the pan.

For the syrup, bring the orange juice set aside to a boil with the remaining ingredients. Boil for five to ten minutes. Pour hot over the cake in portions.

Let stand for about thirty minutes, then cut the slices and garnish with plums.

Tip: It will be less sweet if you soak the slices with a mixture of juice of one lemon, a little powdered sugar and water.
