Instructions:

For the farmer’s soup, boil the rolled barley in sufficient water. Clean and dice the vegetables.

Heat some butter or lard in a large pot. Add the bacon and the diced onion and sauté.

Pour in the soup, add all the remaining chopped vegetables and simmer on low heat.

Add the rolled grated cheese and bring to the boil again. Season the soup with salt and pepper and serve with fresh chives.
