Instructions:

For the Oktoberfest cookies, knead all ingredients into a smooth dough. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line a baking tray with baking paper.

Roll out the dough on the floured work surface to a thickness of approx. 1/2 cm and cut out cookies with the desired shapes (e.g. pretzel, dirndl, Lederhos’n, beer mug, flowers,…).

Place the cut out cookies on the baking tray and bake for about 10 minutes at 180 degrees. They should not be baked too dark, otherwise they will be too hard.

Let the cookies cool down and prepare the icing. Whisk the egg whites in a bowl and gradually add the sifted powdered sugar until the mixture is thick.

Now divide the icing into small portions and mix with the food coloring. Fill the icing into a piping bag with a thin piping nozzle or a baking paper stanitzel.

Now you can decorate the Oktoberfest cookies as you like with the colored icing and serve.
