Instructions:

Mix all dry ingredients for the shortbread. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water. Mix all ingredients and knead strongly for about 10 minutes. Let the dough rest for about 1/4 hour.

Grind the dough pieces of approx. 50 g each (form loosely round) and let rest again for approx. 1/4 hour. Shape dough balls into sticks, snails, plaits or loaves as desired.

Place on a baking tray with the end facing down and moisten slightly. Sprinkle with cheese, salt or grains as desired. Let rise again for about 1/2 hour.

Preheat the oven to 225 °C hot air. Heat a heat-resistant container for the water. Pour water into the vessel so that a lot of steam is created – WARNING DANGER OF BURNING!!! Bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Let the pastry cool well on a rack.
