Indian Style Apple Chutney

Instructions:

For the apple chutney, peel, wash and finely dice the onion. Peel apples, remove core and cut into pieces.

Peel the ginger, clean the chili pepper and chop both. Heat the peanut oil in a pot. Sauté the onion cubes in it for 3 minutes.

Add the ginger and chili and sauté for another 2 minutes. Add mustard seeds, coriander seeds and cumin seeds.

Add apple pieces, sugar, lime juice, vinegar, cinnamon stick, cloves and salt and stir well. Simmer gently over low heat for 10 minutes.

Add the cardamom and continue to simmer until the liquid has thickened and the apple pieces have softened.

Remove the pot from the heat. Remove the cinnamon stick, cloves and cardamom. The apple chutney is served with spicy curries, rice, noodles and vegetables.
