For the Husarenkrapferln, cream together butter, powdered sugar, salt and vanilla sugar until fluffy. Add lemon juice and rum. Stir in the egg yolks one by one.

Sift flour with baking powder and mix with hazelnuts. Knead the two masses together. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

Preheat the oven to 170° C hot air.

Cut the dough into 3-4 pieces and form each into a roll. Cut slices from these strands and roll into balls about 2 cm in size.

Place these on a baking tray lined with baking paper and flatten slightly. Make a depression in the center with the handle of a wooden spoon. Fill with jam.

Bake for about 15 minutes, let cool and sprinkle with sugar.
