Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Scrape out the vanilla pod with a sharp knife and cream the finely chopped pulp with the sugar, butter and eggs. Then gradually stir in flour slowly until you get a thick, yet compact dough. Spread on a greased baking sheet to the thickness of a thumb and bake for about 25 minutes. Let Triet cool, cut into slices and bake them briefly in a hot oven or a Teflon pan. Meanwhile, heat the Zweigelt with the aromatics until it begins to foam. Divide the Triet among soup plates and strain the mulled wine over them. Allow to infuse briefly until the batter has almost absorbed the liquid and serve cold in portions, garnished with a little whipped cream if desired.
