Boil the Gewürztraminer with the sugar and the vanilla pod. Reduce the heat. Brush the pears with the juice of one lemon, simmer with the lid closed in the Gewürztraminer over low heat for about half an hour, just until soft. Remove roasting pan from the plate, marinate pears in the cooking liquid for about 2 hours. Remove pears, arrange in glasses. Boil cooking liquid to about half syrupy. Remove vanilla stems, cut in half, garnish pears with them. Pour syrup over pears
