Instructions:

Preheat oven to 160°C.

Bring milk to the boil briefly, remove from heat, stir in poppy seeds and let swell for about 10 minutes. Add lemon zest.

Separate the eggs. Beat yolks with sugar and the pulp of the vanilla pod until creamy. Stir in curd cheese and vanilla pudding powder.

Beat egg whites until stiff and carefully fold into egg mixture. Stir 5 tablespoons of this mixture into the poppy seeds.

Pour the mixture into a coated baking dish or tart pan. Spoon poppy seed mixture evenly with a fork to create a light marbling.

Bake the curd cake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes.
