For the chocolate-cherry casserole, pit the cherries and place them on the bottom of a greased and floured oval baking dish (approx. 35 cm x 22 cm).

Cream the butter with the sugar and vanilla sugar. Then gradually add the egg yolks and continue to beat until fluffy, finally stir in the chocolate. Stir in a dash of rum.

Beat the egg whites until very stiff and stir into the dough together with the flour.

Spread the batter over the cherries and bake the chocolate-cherry casserole at 160 °C hot air (possibly with a little steam) for about 55 minutes. (Do a needle test!)
