Try this delicious cake recipe:

Beat the eggs in a baking bowl for about 2 min until creamy. Add half of the sugar and beat for 2-3 min until creamy. Add remaining sugar and lemon zest and beat for another 10 min.

Slowly fold the flour into the egg mixture one tablespoon at a time, otherwise the flour will clump on the bottom. Grease a square dish (23 cm) and spoon half of the mixture into it. Place half of the nuts and dates on top and carefully spread the remaining egg mixture evenly over the top. Sprinkle with the remaining nuts and dates and dust with cinnamon.

Cover the cake with a double layer of greased parchment paper (make a fold in the paper so that the cake can rise) or place a kitchen towel under the lid to prevent condensation from dripping onto the cake. Place the cake in the steamer.

Bring water to a boil in a saucepan or wok (the insert must not come into contact with the water). Put the steamer in, close the lid and steam the cake for about 15 minutes, until a small stick inserted into the set remains clean when you pull it out.

Cut the cake into pieces and serve warm or cooled with fresh or strained fruit and whipped cream.
