Instructions:

Wash the cherries, drain and remove the pits.

Preheat the oven to 180 °C hot air. Line the baking tray with baking paper.

Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites to snow. Beat the egg whites until they turn white and then mix in half the sugar.

Cream butter, remaining sugar, yolks and vanilla sugar.

Sift together the flour and cornstarch so that no holes then form in the cherry pie.

Mix the beaten egg-sugar mixture alternately with the flour mixture into the yolk mixture.

Spread the batter on the baking paper and top with the cherries.

Bake the cherry cake for about 15-20 minutes, let cool, sugar over if desired and cut into pieces of any size.
