For the bean and sauerkraut soup, brown bacon cubes, finely chopped onions and garlic in hot lard in a saucepan. Dust with flour, add about 500 ml of water and boil well. In another pot, cook the diced potatoes in about 500 ml of salted water until soft.

Then add the cooked beans and boil once. Add half of this bean-potato mixture to the soup, as well as the sauerkraut cut several times, the bay leaf and savory. Blend the remaining potatoes and beans and then add them to the soup as well. Season the bean and sauerkraut soup with salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar and serve in warmed plates.
