Instructions:

For the apple strudel, place the raisins in a bowl, cover lightly with rum and leave to steep, covered, preferably overnight. Peel, core and slice the apples. Then marinate with granulated sugar, vanilla sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon and rum raisins to taste.

For the butter crumbs, heat butter and toast bread crumbs in it until light brown, then season with vanilla sugar, granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll out the strudel dough and brush with butter, sprinkle the lower third with butter crumbs and spread the apple filling on the crumbs, roll up the apple strudel, brush with butter and sprinkle with a mixture of cinnamon and granulated sugar.

Bake in the oven at 160 °C for 25 minutes. (The sugar caramelizes during baking and gives a wonderful taste).
