For the apple plum cake, grease a cake springform pan and sprinkle with flour. Preheat the oven to 175° Celsius (gas mark 2).

Mix the butter with the vanilla sugar and the sugar until white creamy. Add the eggs one at a time and fold in with the spices and rum (just a little ground cloves!). Finally, fold in the flour with the baking powder. Pour the batter into the tart springform pan and smooth the top.

Peel the apples, cut them in half and discard the core. Cut the apple halves into eighths (or thinner). Rinse the plums, rub them dry, quarter them and remove the seeds. Alternately layer apple slices and plum quarters close together on the top of the dough. Sprinkle sugar and almond flakes on top, then add butter flakes.

Bake the apple and plum cake in a hot oven for fifty to sixty minutes.
