Instructions:

For the vla, boil milk with the cut vanilla pods, then remove the pods.

In a baking bowl, whisk the yolks and sugar until foamy. Gently fold some of the milk into the egg mixture. Over a bain-marie, slowly mix the two together, stirring constantly. When it starts to thicken – but still runs loosely down from the whisk the vla is ready.

Arrange in bowls and serve.
