Instructions:

For the hot dog waffles, first wash the cucumber for the cucumber relish and cut in half lengthwise. Scrape out the core and cut the cucumber halves first lengthwise into strips, then crosswise into cubes. Peel the onion and also finely dice it.

Place the cucumber and onion cubes in a bowl with the vinegar and sugar, season with salt and pepper to taste, and allow to steep for a while.

For the waffles, whisk eggs, buttermilk and oil until smooth. Add flour and baking powder and season with salt and a little pepper. Mix until smooth and fold in the fried onions. Bake in portions in the preheated waffle iron and let the waffles cool on a cake rack.

For the mayonnaise, put the egg yolks, oil and mustard in a blender jug. Whip with a hand blender to a firm mayonnaise. Season to taste with salt, cayenne pepper and Worcestershire sauce.

Heat the sausages in hot water. Arrange waffles on plates and place a sausage on each. Top with cucumber relish as well as fried onions. Add mayonnaise and ketchup to taste over the hot dog waffles.
