Remove the skin from the pears and cut them in half. Discard the core. Place in a large enough bowl and immediately sprinkle with juice of one lemon. Add orange peel. Place the half pears in a saucepan with the cut side down. Pour Marsala over them and sprinkle with sugar. Cover. After a few min, check if there is still liquid. Once the juice has reduced, turn the pears over to the other side and add a tiny bit more Marsala by the spoonful as needed. The sauce should get a syrupy consistency. Cool.
