For the warm apple dessert from the slow cooker, briefly mix the rusk in the blender – may be coarse but also fine, a nice mixture. Melt the butter in the microwave while watching, add the sugar and cinnamon and mix well.

Add the rusk crumbs to the butter mixture as well and mix well. Pour the unsweetened applesauce into the insert of the slow cooker and cover the bottom evenly to the edges.

Then spread the rusk mixture evenly over the puree, place the lid on top and cook on LOW for about 2.5 hours. Arrange the warm apple dessert and serve.
