Beat sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla sugar until thick and creamy, then gradually add flour

and, if desired, nuts, fold in baking powder. Bake until the dough is dry enough to squeeze out onto a square baking tray. Bake at 200 degrees until golden and cut into small pieces while still warm.
