For the wholemeal spelt strawberry cake, wash the strawberries, remove the stems and cut lengthwise into 2 halves.

Beat the egg whites with 3 tablespoons of cold water, the cane sugar and vanilla sugar until foamy. Then fold in the oil, flour and baking powder.

Spread the dough on a smaller baking or casserole dish lined with baking paper. Spread the strawberries, cut side down, on top of the batter – they will sink into the batter.

Bake the wholemeal spelt strawberry cake in the oven at 180 degrees for about 30 minutes.
